We came across Progressive Musicians recently through music friends in Portland, Oregon. Every year we are joined by number of participants from the America, both in the Intermediate and Advanced Classes, and especially from Portland. Two of these, James Welch and Anne Denis, have set up an enterprising scheme to help and promote young musicians. I have known James (from Buffalo) and Anne (from Portland) for a number of years, not only as valuable members of the Advanced Class at the sumer school but also as participants in my master classes in America. Both are fine pianists and teachers in their own right.
This founding year of Progressive Musicians kicks off with a competition, with the exciting incentive of a prize performance at the Weill Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall in new York.
Below is a message from the Progressive Musicians team.
